    Safety Rules

    Greetings Fellow Members

As announced at the most recent GM meeting, we are having signs made up with the New and Improved Safety Rules to post in conspicuous locations at the field.  The revisions were made to address several points that were not included in the last draft of the rules, like including things like "Pets" as well as "Children" need adult supervision for their own safety, and omission of obvious things like "Take-offs and landings will be conducted in a safe manner".  I think you will all approve, and the "Grey Areas" that have grown out of proportion due to the lack of the Safety Rules being posted anywhere at the field will now turn into legible Black and White. They will be posted alongside of the Club By-Laws and the AMA Safety Code so that these important documents will be available for all members information and safety.

There will also be a new First Aid Kit installed, and sineage placed to help locate it in the panic generated when it is needed.  I'm sure that the old one has long since expired, and I will now be keeping the Kit up to date as supplies are used. (Hopefully not very often)

Also, there will be signs that say "FIRE EXTINGUISHER" in vertical format placed on the Flight Line side of the posts that the Extinguishers are hidden behind so that they too can be located when they are needed. (Hopefully never!)

And lastly, once again, I must remind the Pilots who operate Gasoline and Gas Turbine powered aircraft that the AMA Safety Code REQUIRES you to be in posession of a Fire Extinguisher in the Pit Area when FUELING and STARTING your Aircraft.  This is and always has been a SPARKS Safety Rule as well, and once the Safety Rules are posted at the field (eliminating the Grey Area regarding this very important rule), I will be commending the Pilots that have the sense to adhere to it, and GROUNDING the Pilots who do not until such time as they show up with their Fire Extinguisher.  If you cannot afford a CO2 unit, please buy a cheap one just to comply.  One day (or hopefully not) your Aircraft and fellow Club Members will thank you for having it!

Thats all for now.  I would like to thank all of you Pilots for making the effort to comply with the Flight Line rule.  It is obvious that everyone is making that effort, and as a result, you are making our Club a Safer and More Enjoyable place to fly, and that what we all come here for, to Fly and Have Fun!!!

    Thanks Again,

Your (they made me do it) Safety Officer

    Jaffray Stephenson
